SubHunt ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and web dashboard.
Chrome Extension Data Collection
Our Chrome extension operates on reddit.com and old.reddit.com only. Here's what the extension collects and why:
Data Collected by the Extension
- Website content: Reddit post titles, content, and URLs that you explicitly choose to save
- User activity: Which posts you save, tags you add, and engagement status you set
- Authentication tokens: Session cookies to sync with your dashboard account
Data Stored Locally in Your Browser
The following data is stored only in your browser using Chrome's storage API and is never sent to our servers:
- OpenAI API key: If you use AI reply suggestions, your API key is stored locally only
- Extension settings: Your preferences and configuration
- Cached data: Temporary data for offline functionality
Browser Permissions Explained
Our extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab: To detect when you're on Reddit and show save buttons
- scripting: To inject the save post button and keyword highlighting on Reddit pages
- sidePanel: To display the CRM interface alongside Reddit
- storage: To save your settings and cached data locally
- tabs: To detect when you navigate to Reddit pages
- alarms: To periodically check for new keyword matches
- notifications: To alert you when new posts match your keywords
- Host permissions (reddit.com): To enable functionality only on Reddit websites
No Remote Code
Our extension does not load or execute any remote code. All JavaScript is bundled within the extension package. External requests are limited to:
- Reddit's public RSS feeds (for keyword monitoring)
- Our dashboard API (for syncing saved posts, if logged in)
- OpenAI API (only if you configure AI features with your own API key)
Web Dashboard Data Collection
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name through our authentication provider (Clerk). We use this to identify your account and communicate with you about the service.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use SubHunt, including:
- Keywords you monitor
- Posts you save
- Subreddit groups you create
- Feature usage patterns
What We Don't Collect
We never collect:
- Your Reddit credentials or login information
- Your browsing history outside of Reddit
- Personal messages or private Reddit content
- Your OpenAI API key (it's only stored locally in your browser)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the SubHunt service
- Sync your data across devices
- Send you keyword alerts and notifications
- Improve our product based on usage patterns
- Communicate with you about updates and support
- Process payments (via Stripe)
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- Encrypted database storage

Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal purposes.

SubHunt is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
